Miami

In the blog I will write about the cities that I am visiting during this time in America, and maybe also about the best cities that I have visited before (of Europe or Asia). I know that I should start with Orlando, the city where I live, but I will wait until I have a real feeling about the experience of living here. Meanwhile I will begin with… Miami.

En el blog escribiré sobre las ciudades que estoy visitando durante mi estancia en América, y tal vez también de las mejores ciudades que visitado antes (de Europa o Asia). Sé que debería empezar por Orlando, la ciudad en la que vivo, pero esperare hasta tener un sentimiento real sobre la experiencia de vivir aquí. Mientras tanto empezaré con… Miami.

Miami Downtown

Miami is one of the places that always I want to visit in USA (with Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York). In my opinion this is the city of the fusion, and also the Latin capital of the world.

In Miami you can find people from all Spanish Speaker countries: Spain, central and south America, including Brazil, and of course… Cuba. This people fusion gives to the city a rhythm very special, very Latin that makes to Spanish people feel like in home. As per Wikipedia the 68% of the population have the Spanish as first language. When you are arriving to Miami you can ear in your mine the Will Smith song “Welcome to Miami… bienvenido a Miami”. Maybe in a not very impartial, but as I am from the South I like the southern cities.

Miami es uno de esos lugares en los que siempre quise ir visitar en USA (con Las Vegas, Los Ángeles, San Francisco y Nueva York). En mi opinión esta es la ciudad de la fusión, y también la capital latina del mundo.

En Miami puedes encontrar gente de todos los países hispanohablantes: España, América central y del sur, incluyendo Brasil y por supuesto… Cuba. Esta fusión de gente da a la ciudad un ritmo muy especial, muy latino que hace que la gente española se sienta como en casa. Según Wikipedia el 68% de la población reconoce el Español como primer idioma. Al llegar a Miami, puedes oir en tu cabeza la canción de Will Smith “Welcome to Miami… bienvenido a Miami”. Tal vez yo no soy muy imparcial, porque al ser del sur me encantan las ciudades sureñas.

Krimo in... South Beach

This fusion is also present in the architecture of the city. Miami is divided in zone very different: you can walk between the skyscrapers of Downtown Miami, see the Cuban typical restaurants and houses of 8^th Street, going on boat around the channels viewing the impressive mansions of famous people, or rest in the oceanic beach of South Beach. Between the main “islands” there are a lot of channels and they are connected through impressive bridges. It’s hard to believe that North and South Beach are built on terrain that the humans won to the ocean.

Esta fusión está presente también en la arquitectura de la ciudad. Miami está dividida en zonas muy diferentes: puedes caminar entre los rascacielos del centro de Miami, ver las casas y restaurantes típicos de Cuba en la Calle 8, tomar un barco a través de los canales viendo las impresionantes mansiones de la gente famosa, o descansar en la playa oceánica de South Beach. Entre las principales “Islas” hay muchos canales y están conectadas a través de impresionantes puentes. Es difícil creer que North y South Beach estén construidas en terreno que los humanos ganaron al océano.

Exclusive Residence in a private Island

In just one weekend we visited the disco Latin zone of South Beach. The morning before we had a breakfast in a typical restaurant in the same zone, later we take from Downtown an excursion in a boat during 90 minutes viewing the different channel and mansion that there are. After that we take a sandwich in a Cuban restaurant. In the evening we went to the beach, and in the night we went to Downtown Miami. On Sunday we were to have a brunch in the luxury Nikki Beach Club. This Club is located in front of the ocean, and has a relaxing ambient. You can choice between take a fresh juice o drink, or have a complete brunch (all you want eat) between 11AM to 4PM, resting in the sofas and going to the beach to take a non very refresh bath (the water is hot), but at least you could take a shower with fresh water!

Every hour was a saxophonist playing direct music, and also some dancer. In the evening we can see a bath fashion show very cool.

En solo un fin de semana visitamos la zona disco latina de South Beach. A la mañana siguiente tomamos un desayuno en un típico restaurante en esta misma zona, después tomamos desde el centro una excursión que durante 90 minutos nos llevó a través de los canales para ver las diferentes mansiones que hay. Después de esto tomamos un sándwich en un restaurante cubano. Por la tarde fuimos a la playa, y por la noche fuimos al centro. El domingo tomamos un “Brunch” (desayuno / almuerzo) en el lujoso Nikki Beach Club. Este club está situado enfrente del océano, y tiene un ambiente relajante. Puedes elegir entre tomar un zumo fresco o bebida, o tomar un brunch muy completo (todo lo que puedas comer) entre las 11 y las 4, descansando en los sofás y yendo a la playa a tomar un baño no muy refrescante (el agua está caliente), pero al menos puedes tomar una ducha con agua fresca!

Cada hora tocaba un saxofonista en directo, y también había algunas gogos. Por la tarde pudimos ver un desfile de modelos en traje de baño.

After that we take the car to go to home, we had behind a way of 224 miles / almost 3 hours and half, taking the toll road – $15.75 in total. This time we spend almost 4 hours because arriving to Orlando we pass a tropical storm.

I liked this special and different city; therefore I know that I will come back. The only negative is that everything is expensive (specially the parking), but take it easy, you are in Miami men, and this is a place that you have to live!! Before to visit it I hear “The only free in Miami is the beach”, no I can say that I am agree! Here I leave some photos of the weekend.

Después de esto cogimos el coche en dirección a casa, teníamos por delante unos 360 km / casi 3 horas y meda cogiendo la carretera con peajes – unos 11 euros. Esta vez tardamos casi 4 horas porque llegando a Orlando pasamos por una tormenta tropical.

Me gustó esta ciudad especial y diferente, por lo que se que volveré. Lo único malo es que todo es caro (especialmente el aparcamiento), pero claro, estas en Miami, y este es un lugar que tienes que vivir!! Antes de visitarla oí “En Miami lo único gratis es la playa”, ahora puedo decir que estoy de acuerdo! Aquí dejo algunas foros del fin de semana.
